Draw Poker Cup IV: Info

In Brief

Draw Poker is turning 4 years old! Wow! So we're celebrating by throwing the coolest All inPlay draw poker tournament ever! For the first time we're using rules inspired by the big-time tournaments you've seen on TV: the stakes increase over time until four (or fewer) players are left with enough to continue. The top four players as of that moment go on to a finals round where they will duke it out at a table with an announcer who will provide live play-by-play narration of the action via For The People and WBBY. Ready for the fun? <smile>

Tournament Location: http://allinplay.com/poker/poker.php?config=cup
Start Date: Friday, April 7th
Start Time: 5:00 PM US Eastern
Duration: 24 hours+
Cost: *free*
Open to: Members Only (Former Members and free trial users who upgrade to paying members before or during the event will also be able to participate)

Betting

Everyone starts with 100,000 tournament chips. Because we're silly, we're calling them "buckaroos" (don't worry, they're fake, no real money is involved). This tournament has multiple stages. Every new round has higher stakes than the round before it. The game continues until there are four or fewer players with enough buckaroos to meet the ante. These four are the finalists and go on to the Finals round (described below). Each group of tables will offer social, fast, and wow speeds.

Stage 1 (hours 0-18)

First Group of Tables: Ante=100 / first round max=1k / second round max=2k
Second Group of Tables: 300/3k/6k

Stages 2-5 (hours 19-22: Noon-3:59 pm US Eastern / 1600-1900 GMT)

Starting in the 20th hour a new stage (with higher stakes) will begin every hour until the 23rd hour. Each stage will have only one set of tables.

Stage 2: Ante=1k / first round max=10k / second round max=20k
Stage 3: 3k/30k/60k
Stage 4: 10k/100/200k
Stage 5: 30k/300/600k

Stages 6+ (hours 23+: 4:00 pm US Eastern onward / 2000 GMT onward)

If there are still more than 4 players with enough buckaroos to keep playing, then a new stage will start every 20 minutes.

Stage 6: ante=100k/no limits
Stage 7: ante=300k/no limits
Stage 8: ante=1 million/no limits
... and so on if need be!

Finals Round

The top four paying members from the qualifying round will go on to the Finals. The finalists will join All inPlay cofounder Paul Silva at a private table and compete in an intense game of the All inPlay original "Hand Elimination" rules for Poker Tournaments. Paul will provide play-by-play narration that will be broadcast live for For The People and WBBY Internet radio. Links to connect to these Internet broadcasts will appear on the Draw Poker Play Page at the time of the event.

"Hand Elimination" Rules

* Each finalists starts with 100,000 buckaroos.
* The betting rules for the final table will be ante=5k/no limits
* After 30 hands, the player with the fewest buckaroos will be eliminated and earn 4th place.
* After 40 hands, the player with the fewest buckaroos will be eliminated and earn 3rd place.
* After 50 hands, the player with the fewest buckaroos will be eliminated and earn 2nd place.
And of course, that will leave one player left: our Tournament Champion and winner of the Draw Poker Cup IV!

Special Instructions for Finalists

All finalists will be invited to the finals via email (via the address they have registered with their All inPlay account). Those who do not accept the invitation by the deadline indicated in the email will not be able to participate in the finals. Their spot will be offered to the next highest scoring paying member from the qualifying round. It is the Finalist's responsibility to make sure that their computers and Internet connections are functioning properly so that they may participate in the Finals - the moderator of the finals will *not* wait for late players. Players who disconnect from the finals match must, sadly, be disqualified to ensure a fair game for all other players.

Date, Time, etc.

Start Time: 4:00 PM US Eastern
Duration: About 45 minutes
Cost: *free*
Open to: Finalists from the qualifying round.

Legal Stuff (its actually funny!)

This section is meant to help maintain a SPIRIT of fun and friendship. If All inPlay ever feels the exact wording of our rules gets in the way of the intended spirit, the spirit holds priority and we'll make decisions accordingly. After all, we're here to have fun and make friends, not argue legalese!

All inPlay actively monitors tournaments, logs all chat and betting, and immediately removes and/or disqualifies anyone found cheating or being disruptive.

* This tournament is void where prohibited. We don't know where that is, but hey, if you live there, you should know! <smile>
* There is no fee to participate in the tournament and it is open to all Members in good standing. Members good at sitting are also more than welcome.
* All decisions by All inPlay concerning removal of players believed to be cheating or disrupting the game are final. We mean it, we'll send the bots to your house <grin>!
* Each All inPlay account that is paid up may participate and be used by whomever the account owner wishes. However, it is the owner of the account who is responsible for the action of anyone they "loan" their account to. If you let your dog play for you and they have a little "episode" near community member FireHydrant, you're gonna have to deal with the consequences.
* All inPlay Staff, Tournament Sponsors, and their respective families are not eligible to win prizes beyond bragging rights and their rank. Besides, who would ever believe that Paul @ All inPlay could win?
* Folks who sponsor individual prizes are not eligible to win their own prize, but are eligible to win prizes they did not sponsor. Otherwise it might be hard to get prize sponsors!
* All decisions by All inPlay and the sponsor(s) concerning prize distribution are final. Again, bots armed with silly putty are standing by.
* By participating in the tournament, you authorize All inPlay to share your contact information with the relevant prize sponsors (otherwise you can't get your prizes).
* Limit of one free trial account per person. We can't think of anything funny to say about this... darn.

So bring some friends and have a great time, or maybe even leave as the Tournament Champ!

Frequently Asked Questions About Tournaments

Q) How do I sign up for the Tournament?

A) We don't like making people have to fill out unnecessary forms, so all paying members are automatically signed up so they can play if they want to. Please note, however, that you do need to have a valid email address in order to play in the tournament. If you don't have a valid email address and you win, we have no way to reach you! If you have not validated your email, then you will be asked to when you try to join the tournament. If you would like to validate your email address now, you can do so on the my account page.

Q) The tournament lasts a while; do I need to play for the whole time?

A) Not at all! We have the tournaments run for such a long time so that people in all time zones have a fair chance at a convenient time for them to play, but you can play as much (or as little) as you like. When you leave a tournament table, your tournament chips/points are placed in a special virtual vault and kept safe until you need them again. This allows you to hop from table to table or take a several-hour break (naps are highly recommended! <smile>) and still have your winnings waiting for you when you come back.

Q) Where will the qualifying tournament take place?

A) On a special tournament server, a link to this server will appear on the Play Poker and Play Crazy Eights pages during the event to allow easy access.
